Did You Just Have Knee Surgery?
Knee surgery is typically a pretty routine surgery that many people undergo, however, the older you are, the harder it is to bounce back after any type of surgery. Ironically knee replacement surgery is meant to help you walk better, but without the proper form of care, many people find that they are in worse shape than they were before the surgery. This is why you should consider a rehabilitation and recovery center after knee surgery. My grandmother is 68 years old and just had knee replacement surgery last year and found her recovery to be more difficult than she had anticipated. Because of this, she was extremely grateful that she opted for a recovery center after surgery. She is convinced that if she had not gone to the recovery center after surgery, she probably would not be walking very well today. Knee replacement surgery is not pleasant and requires a lot of attention afterward. Regular exercise, moving, getting out of bed, all of these things contribute to a patient’s health and well-being after surgery. She is convinced that without the skilled nursing team and the physical therapists who helped her through her recovery, she would not have ever gotten out of bed on her own. This is often times the scenario for many elderly people who undergo surgery. A rehabilitation and recovery center is not a nursing home and definitely does not promote patients to remain bedbound throughout the recovery. They are equipped with professionals who will help you along the way to regain your strength and gently encourage and push you to your fullest potential. This is essential for recovery. Each person recovers differently and at different paces which means that recovery centers focus on the individual patient and their needs.
