When Living Alone Becomes Unsafe

When Living Alone Becomes Unsafe  Many elderly people feel a loss of independence when their loved ones step in and make decisions they think are best for their elderly relatives. These decisions can be anything from take away their driving privileges, apply them for the Meals on Wheels program, or move them to a retirement or nursing home. It’s sad because many of us want to think that our loved one is happier and healthier living with us rather than being put in a home, but that is not always the case. There are times when it is much safer and healthier for our loved ones to be in a facility that can cater to them and actually help meet their daily needs, especially as their needs increase with age. Roles change as our parents begin to age and are in need of special care. We often don’t think about this because we believe nothing will happen to them. We grow up thinking they are never going to get hurt, ill, or go through a life-changing surgery. While many elderly people are fortunate to have...
